Interior Design Transfer Students

- Eligibility:

Pre-Architecture: Composite Cumulative Grade Point Average 3.0 required.
Pre-Interior Design: Composite Cumulative Grade Point Average 3.0 required.
Pre-Landscape Architecture: Composite Cumulative Grade Point Average 3.0 required.

(Transfer students with less than 12 semester credit hours of college study are required to be admitted on the freshmen entrance requirements.)

- Grades: The College of Architecture does not accept grades of C- or below for transfer credit.

- International transfer students minimum TOEFL 550 required.

- Transfer students who graduated from high school prior to January 1, 1997 will be required to meet the 1996 High School Standards. Transfer students who graduated from high school after January 1, 1997 will be required to meet the 1997 High School Standards.

- Admission to the College for Pre-Architecture and Pre-Interior Design does not guarantee a seat in Architecture courses. Registration in Architecture courses is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

- Admission Deadlines:
- Pre-Architecture transfers: February 15th for Summer/Fall 2007
- There is no spring admission to Pre-Architecture.

- Pre-Interior Design transfers: May 1st for Summer/Fall 2007
- Pre-Interior Design transfers: December 1st for Spring 2008

To apply for Admission:
1.) Fill out the online application to UNL and pay the application fee.
2.) Contact your college registrar to have transcripts sent to UNL Admissions.
3.) File a FAFSA to obtain financial aid.
4.) If you are a UNO or UNK student, fill out a Change of Campus Form, available at UNO/UNK/UNL Admissions.

- Transferring Courses:
Students entering UNL Fall 1995 and after will take the UNL Comprehensive Education Program (CEP). The Essential Studies (ES) component of the program exposes students to a broad range of academic disciplines. Students planning to transfer to UNL may begin meeting ES group requirements by taking courses at other institutions. Contact UNL Admissions for lists of courses at specific Nebraska Community Colleges determined to be equivalent to (ES) courses at UNL. The Integrative Studies (IS) component of the program is a UNL experience requirement intended to engage students in actively developing their ability and desire to analyze, evaluate and communicate complex material and positions throughout their academic program. Transferable (ES) courses for Architecture College include:
ES-A: Communication
Pre-Arch and Pre-ID:
- one course equivilent to COMM 109, 209 or 309 (three hours), and
- two courses equivilent to ENGL 101, 102, 150, 151 (six hours)

ES - B: Math & Statistics
Pre-Arch:
- course equivilent to MATH 106, Analytic Geometry and Calculus I (5 hours minimum)
Pre-ID:
- course equivilent to STAT 180, Statistics (3 hours, higher Math courses may be acceptable)

ES - C: Human Behavior, Culture, & Social Organization
Pre-Arch and Pre-ID:
Six credits from the following subject areas: Anthropology, Economics, Economic Geography, Human Geography, Political Science, Psychology, or Sociology.

ES - D: Science & Technology
Pre-Arch:
- equivilent course to PHYS 151 (5 hours minimum)
Pre-ID:
- any Natural Science elective with Lab (4 hours minimum)

ES - E. Historical Studies
Pre-Arch and Pre-ID:
ARCH 240, "History of Architecture" (core requirement)

ES - F. Humanities
Pre-Arch and Pre-ID:
- 3 credits minimum from English Literature or Philosophy.
- common equivilencies include ENGL 180 or PHIL 101, 106, 110.

ES - G: Arts
Pre-Arch:
- 3 credits minimum from Art History, Beginning Drawing or Studio Art, Music Appreciation, or Theater.
Pre-Interior ID:
- IDES 106 (3 credits - core requirement for Pre-ID)

ES - H: Race, Ethnicity and Gender
Pre- Arch and Pre-ID:
- 3 credits minimum from Anthropology, Black Studies, English Literature, Ethnic Studies, History, Political Science or Sociology.

- Drawing, Design and Architectural Drafting Policy, as of May 15, 1998: Three colleges at UNL (the College of Architecture, the College of Fine and Performing Arts, and the College of Human Resources and Family Sciences) have approved a cross disciplinary, 10 semester credit hour Visual Literacy program required by 1st year students.
1. To meet the two semester Visual Literacy requirement, 10 semester credit hours or more are acceptable for transfer without a portfolio review. These credits can be met by a combination of studio arts and/or architectural drafting. However, no more than 3 semester credit hours in architectural drafting or architectural design will be accepted for Visual Literacy credit.
2. Transfer students with 5-9 semester credit hours in the area of studio arts and/or architectural drafting may receive credit toward the first Visual Literacy semester without portfolio review. A maximum of 3 semester credit hours in architectural drafting or architectural design will be accepted for Visual Literacy credit.

- Computer Courses:
Computer courses in Auto CAD/14.0 and three dimensional modeling software are recommended for Pre-Architecture and Pre-Interior Design. These courses may transfer as open elective credit.
